Interior Designer · New York, NY
Catherine Weinstock is an interior designer specializing in luxury residential design for a global clientele. Her sophisticated urban sensibility is honed by a deep knowledge of, and respect for, both the fine and decorative arts. Catherine’s work enjoys the duality of being both subtle and impactful, which is achieved through a keen sense of detail, weaving together texture with bold silhouettes, organic forms, and unexpected accents of color.
Catherine’s keen eye has been a constant presence throughout her life. Years of study in Europe and a multidisciplinary background in interior design, furniture restoration, and fine arts have given her the solid foundation required to create the understated yet bold environments which she continues to do for her international clients.
A fervent traveler, Catherine scours the globe searching for artisans with whom she collaborates to produce unique and wonderful pieces for her projects. Her enduring style is based upon a love for art and design and the skill with which she blends together diverse elements. There is always a presence of archetypes in her work, subtle as it may be. She believes they act as a magnet, creating a sense of depth and ground; and acting as a catalyst for interaction and dialogue.
The presence of art is hugely important to Weinstock. She allows it to be the protagonist by making her selections first, and then she lets the interior evolve around it. Through Weinstock’s passion for anthropology and her experience with Jungian analysis, she has developed a great understanding of human behavior and the subconscious which she certainly draws on when designing for her clients.
